National Finals 2017
Bristol Bombers represent South West at this year's National Finals in Manchester!
As this season's winners of the South West League, Bristol Bombers travelled to Manchester to compete at the National Finals on Sunday 14th May. Also competing at the National Finals were the winners from the South East Premiership Division and the North League (Centaurs and Oxton respectively). Both of these teams were fielding a number of English & Welsh international players, all in top condition ahead of the World Cup in 2 months. Their first game against Oxton started extremely well, with the score at 1-1 after 10minutes and Bristol scoring the first goal. Oxton soon found their rhythm though and quickly took control of the game. Bristol achieved some brilliant settled attack, and a standout performance by Goldy in goal left the final score at 15-4 to Oxton.
The second game against Centaurs was a little less enthusiastic. Tired legs, a lack of international players on the sub bench and a few injuries saw Centaurs run away with the game quick quickly, with the final score of 22-3. Despite the scoreline, the girls maintained a positive attitude throughout, and fought for each groundball until the dying seconds of the game.
